Goldfish is a freshwater fish native to eastern Asia, characteristically having brassy or reddish coloring and bred in many ornamental forms as an aquarium fish. It's below Cyprinidae family and this species is called Carassius auratus.
Not only the goldfish is one of the earliest fish to be domesticated, but also they are the one of the most commonly-kept aquarium fish today. A small plain carp which lived in the ponds of the south and central China was the ancestor of the goldfish. First, the carp was kept, fed and bred in the ponds in as earlier as A.D.960 by the record in the Chinese ancient book called "Mountain and Sea Scripture".
After long term breeding and selection, the occasionally colorful and different varieties of the carp appeared. That¡¯s called "evolution" as my understanding. Those different and colorful varieties of carp were never stopped to be put into the circle of breeding and selection again and again by human being until they are become today's goldfish.
Nowadays, millions of goldfish are bred all over the world. Like Goldfish Queen Farm, we keep selecting and breeding more than 60 varieties goldfish every year. It makes us to develop more and more quality high class goldfish so that we can supply 7 million goldfish, size from 2.5 inch to 8 inch, to local and worldwide pets' shops.
